EDMUND COHEN

Grand Master

 

Most Worshipful Edmund Cohen was born on September 18, 1940 in The Bronx, NY. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the City College of New York and did his graduate work at Columbia University before coming to Virginia to begin a career at the CIA in 1967. He later studied law at the American University and is a member of the Bar in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. At the CIA he advanced to senior exectuive rank and served in a number of senior management positons until his retirement in January of 2008.

RW Cohen was raised to the sublime Degree of Master Mason in 1976 in Henry Lodge No. 57 in Fairfax. He served as Worshipful Master in 1982, as Secretary from 1983 - 1985 and as Trustee since 1984. He is a Life Member in Perpetuity of Henry Lodge No. 57 and Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 120.

Brother Cohen served as DDGM in 1989. He was appointed Chairman of the Grand Lodge Committee on Community Service by Grand Master Morlock. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Committee on Jurisprudence, the Grand Lodge Committee on Masonic Education, and served two terms on the Board of Governors of the Masonic Home. He was appointed Grand Junior Steward by Grand Master Chapin, awarded the John Blair Medal by Grand Master Parker and nominated for the position of Grand Junior Deacon by Grand Master Scearce.

Most Worshipful Cohen is a member of the Valley of Alexandria Socttish Rite, a member of the Scottwsih Rite Reseach Society, acitve in the York Rite, Past Sovereign Master of Perfect Ashlar Council No. 349 and member of Virginia Council No. 12 Knight Masons of the United States. He also holds membership in Kena Shrine Center, is a member of Hope Chaper No. 73 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of a number of other Masonic bodies.

Most Worshipful Coehn is married to the former Gwendolyn Man and is a member of Temple Rodef Shalom in McLean, Virginia.
